Marriage Preparation
Holy Matrimony is a beautiful gift given by God and elevated by Christ to the dignity of a sacrament for the baptized. Choosing to undertake this blessed adventure is a witness of love to the world. Since the Roman Catholic Church takes its sacraments, including holy matrimony, seriously, there are both formation classes and a number of forms and procedures inherent to being married in the Church that must be accomplished before a wedding can be celebrated. Parish staff will assist you with these steps, beginning with an initial meeting.
At this first meeting, couples will be interviewed to determine that each person is free to marry in the Roman Catholic Church. Couples will also be given a Marriage Manual that carefully details the process and policies guiding Holy Matrimony in the Church.
The staff is happy to work with couples in securing a wedding date and guiding them through the necessary steps, including formal classes. These classes may be offered by the parish, the Archdiocese, or a private Christian counselor. Staff will assist each couple in choosing the best formal class option for them.
Please contact the parish at least six months prior to your intended wedding date to schedule your initial meeting.
