Youth Ministry:
Assumption & Sacred Heart

We have a vibrant youth ministry program here in Bellingham for our young Catholics in middle and high school. We offer a welcoming place for teenagers to explore their Catholic faith more deeply in age-based small groups and form Christ-centered friendships through weekly youth group meetings, Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament, service projects, Bible studies, and fellowship events.

Middle School Programs:

Small Groups: We offer small groups on Wednesdays at both Sacred Heart and Assumption. If you’re interested in joining, please contact Daniel Prenosil, our Youth Minister. These small groups require regular attendance.

Youth Group: Starting Friday, September 20th, 2024, we’ll kick off our Youth Group at Sacred Heart Hall. Youth Group runs every Friday through June 6th, 2025. These are open nights—students can show up as long as they've completed a registration form. Youth Group meets from 6:30 PM to 8:00 PM on dates marked in Blue on the schedule.
High School Programs:

Small Groups: Small groups meet on Sundays after Masses. Please contact Daniel Prenosil to sign up. Consistent attendance is expected for small groups.
BLAST Nights: These "Big Loud Awesome Spiritual Things" bring together youth from all of Whatcom County. BLAST nights happen once a month and are open to everyone, with registration required only once for all events. The first BLAST night will take place at Assumption Gym in September and November, with other locations possibly added later. BLAST nights run from 6:15 PM to 8:30 PM on Saturday nights, marked in Orange on the schedule.

Sacramental Preparation:

First Communion: For students in 6th–12th grades, First Communion classes are held on Sundays at 2:00 PM at Church of the Assumption. To receive First Communion by June 2025, students must enroll by September 29th, 2024. Please reach out to Daniel Prenosil for more details.

Confirmation Class: Interested students should contact Daniel Prenosil before September 30th, 2024 for this year's Confirmation class.
