Family Promise of Whatcom County
Family Promise is a national initiative that is locally run by the Interfaith Coalition. It is a community effort by local parishes and congregations to each provide one week of housing and meals for up to five families (14 individuals maximum) four times per year. The goal of the initiative is to help the families involved move from homelessness to housing and the success rate is extremely high because of the holistic approach of the program.
JUNE 2021 UPDATE FROM OUR PARISH COORDINATORS:
"Due to Covid-19, instead of hosting families in our gym, right now we simply provide groceries for our families to cook meals from recipes they have selected. Our families are located in individual houses from Bellingham to Ferndale, coordinated by the Interfaith Coalition. We are still working to identify what the program will look like post-Covid. For right now, we know the current model will be in effect throughout the rest of the year."
